Barbie Twilight Bella Doll - A New Doll To Collect

The Barbie Twilight Bella doll is one of the latest releases From Mattel Toys who are the makers of Barbie Dolls. It was released along with the Edward Cullen Barbie doll to coincide with the release of the second Twilight movie, New Moon (news that a Jacob Black doll will be released has also just been released but as yet I haven't sen the doll online). The Barbie Twilight Bella doll seems to be going up in price too. Last time I looked it was around the $30 mark...now down to $19.97 (which is a good discount on the rrp.) I guess demand might make prices fluctuate since the Twilight dolls have just been released.

Of course, the Bella Barbie doll is based on the character Bella Swan that features in all the movies and books of the Twilight series. She is the main female protagonist and all the movies and books are from her perspective. She is described as average height (around 5'5"), pale skin, long brown hair and chocolate brown eyes. She is said to be quite stubborn and a bit lazy.

To this extent the doll bears a resemblance to Bella Swan (or the actor Kirsten Stewart, that plays Bella). The doll has long brown hair. Her skin is fairly pale but not as pale as the Edward Cullen doll (for obvious reasons). Her eyes are not chocolate brown, as described in the book, but are more in keeping with the actors eye color.

The doll also wears an outfit that you would expect Bella to wear. She is dressed in tight mottled gray/blue jeans and a light blue top/jacket. The jacket has a zipper front and 4 pockets. She also wears a pair of blue/whiter sneakers. The clothing has a Summit Entertainment logo to give the doll a bit of authenticity. The Barbie doll is an officially licensed Twilight merchandise by Summit Entertainment, the makers of the films.
 
After the Twilight specific look of these dolls, much else is pretty much like a standard Barbie doll. She stands at around 12 inches. She has bendable knees and her head can swivel from side to side and up and down. She is officially branded under the Pink Label mark, which is basically a tier system for collectors of Barbie dolls to indicate the level of exclusivity. Pink is the entry grade level.

The Doll comes in pink packaging, with a plain plastic front piece so that the doll can be scrutinized without having to remove it from the box.

Background On Bella Swan

Bella Swan is the main female character of the Twilight series. The books and movies essentially tell of the meeting, romance and eventual marriage of Bella to Edward Cullen. This might not seem so unusual but it is when you consider that Bella is human and Edward is a vampire. The stories take all sorts of twists and turns as Bella and Edward struggle with their feelings for each other and the feelings of others about their relationship. The books have sometimes been described as a Jane Austen book.....with Vampires. This is mainly because the subject matter is similar to a Jane Austen novel in that it charts a girls search for her ideal man (except that he happens to be a vampire).
